Discussion on Cyberbullying
Thursday, November 29th, 2007You might have noticed that it has been a while since I have posted anything on McBizzle. I have not totally forgotten the site, but I have been very focused on graduate school and my internship at Lincoln-Sudbury High School. The nature of a counseling internship makes it difficult to share any details other than surface level experiences, though I assure you that no posts is good news.
I feel that this link offers great insight into one of the latest issues coming to the forefront in schools: Cyberbullying. Though bullying has long been an issue, the relational bullying that used to occur primarily in person has the shroud of the internet to act as a means of concealing the identities of bullies. Furthermore, there is a gray area about whose responsibility it is to police such acts even in cases where identities are clear. The participants in the discussion (on the November 24th podcast) are all members of the Lincoln-Sudbury community where I am loving my internship.
