Beautiful Day at Copley Calls for Starbucks… Like Every other day
Wednesday, May 31st, 2006I think Copley has more Starbucks per capita than any other part of Boston or possibly any other city. I actually had Starbuck’s twice today. When I look at my Amex statement, Starbucks is my most common charge. Some people get the same drink each day - NOT me. Like other customers, the barristas at the Berkeley St, Boylston St, Stuart St, and Newbury St locations know my name because they write it on the cup. (The beacon hill location on Charles St still asks and the one on Boylston near Emerson is just a little too bohemian for my liking).
I learned today that Starbucks’ “bold” coffee is roasted for longer and it actually has less caffeine. I would have thought bold would have more caffeine… go figure. The “mild blend” actually is a mixture of all different Latin American beans. Pops recently told me how bad Starbucks was socially… I did a little bit of research and concluded that this claim is unfounded. In fact they are committed to fair trade, shade grown coffee, and they give a great deal back to the community in addition to using recycled products for their cups.
I really only started drinking coffee in January when Ryan made some french press coffee for me. I have since purchased my own french press and grinder. Ryan even sent me some of the delicious Ethiopian coffee from Allegro (found at your local Whole Foods). I am officially hooked. I give coffee my “Best of” in the food and beverage category for 2006, followed close behind by the Cactus Club’s hornito margarita. Coffee Talk… discuss!
